Yoga Balls

A Workout Ball with Many Names:

These large inflatable balls have many names.  They are known as Yoga Balls, Stability Balls, Exercise Balls, Swiss Balls, Birthing Balls, Fitness Balls, and Balance Balls just to name a few.  They range in size from 45cm to 85cm and your height determines which size should fit you.

Use a Yoga Ball with your Asana Practice

Incorporating a yoga ball can add some variety to your yoga practice, add a level of challenge with the balance difficulty, or even provide some support while you learn to master a pose. Yoga Balls are frequently used in Prenatal Yoga as well, allowing for gentle hip and pelvic movements and stretches in addition to providing support in other yoga postures.

Use a Pilates Ball during your Floor Routine

A Pilates Ball can easily be added to your standard Pilates exercises by holding between your hands or legs to increase your focus and inward energy during your workout.

Use a Stability Ball during your Core/Fitness Workout

A great way to add an all-body workout into your normal fitness routine. Incorporate a Stability Exercise Ball when doing your push-ups, sit-ups, plank poses and many other core strengthening exercises.  Work out your abs, hamstrings, arms, back and more by engaging the entire body during balancing exercises using stability balls.

Use an Exercise Ball as an Office Chair

These balance exercise balls are also frequently used as office chairs since they provide a soft, yet firm, base to sit on and will help develop and strengthen the core. With an exercise ball chair your body automatically engages muscles as the ball shifts and rolls slightly.  Active sitting when using a ball chair helps to develop back and core muscles, helps prevent fatigue, and improves posture.  Some tips for using a ball chair:  slightly deflate the ball so it is a little softer, and (generally speaking) a 65cm ball tends to work best as a chair (without a raised base) due to the standard heights of desks.

Yoga Balls as Birthing Balls

These Yoga Stability Balls can be used during pregnancy to help practice squats, to open up the hips, and to relieve lower back pain.  This same Yoga Ball can be used not only during pregnancy and Pre-Natal Yoga, but also during labor itself.  Birth Balls (or Birthing Balls), as they are called when used during labor, provide a soft yet firm seat to sit upon that also helps with proper posture. The gentle rolling or rocking movements can help the baby get into proper position and help reduce back labor pains.

Product Choices

Choose between Burst-Resistant or the standard Stability Ball.  Burst-Resistant Balls, or Anti-Burst Balls, would deflate slowly if punctured.

Choose between regular PVC material, or an eco-friendly, phthalate-free vinyl.

Select your size: sizing charts are available on each product page.  Select a ball size based on your height.  When sitting on a Yoga Ball, your knees should be bent at approximately 90-degrees.

We also carry Professional-grade balls and standard, which determines how much weight the exercise ball can hold.  This is usually dynamic pressure (bouncing) and the weights can be found on the product pages.
